Mike Willdridge studied Graphic Design at Ravensbourne College of Art then worked as a designer, in the printing industry, as a soldier in the army and as an art teacher. He retired recently after a teaching career in which he ran the art departments of two independent schools in Kent and Devon.

For twelve years he ran adult classes from his studio in Devon and now lives and works as a professional artist in Dorset. His only teaching commitment is tutoring on painting holidays abroad. Last year he taught in Italy and France and this year (2016) is teaching  in Tuscany.

His own work is exclusively two dimensional (painting and printmaking) and taken from real life through sketchbook observations and photography. He normally works in a loose style and is fascinated by dramatic light. He acknowledges the influence of artists such as Caravaggio, Rembrandt and Hopper.
