Jack Stancombe

Jack studied fine art at the West Sussex College of Art where he was awarded a Travelling Scholarship and the NDD (National Diploma in Design)  On completion of his studies he spent a few years teaching art before travelling to Udine in Northern Italy to teach and to paint.

 

On returning to the UK he entered the creative world of advertising working in London Edinburgh and Leeds.

In 1973 Jack joined the Territorial Army and was commissioned from Sandhurst into the 4th Bn The Parachute Regiment. 

 

In 1984 he set up his own Graphic Design studios based in Harrogate North Yorkshire where he still lives.

 

Now painting full time he is a figurative painter, mainly in oils but also in gouache and pastel and has a wide interest in subject matter including portraiture.  Keen on drawing he has attended several life drawing master classes at the Royal Academy and attends a local life drawing class every week. He also teaches part time.   His work can be found in private collections in the UK.
