I am an Associate member of the United Artists Society and the Armed Forces Art Society. I also spent a couple of very enjoyable years as a member of the Society of Fulham Artists and Potters whilst I was based in London. My work is in collections in the UK, US, Europe and Australia.
I enjoyed drawing from as soon as I could hold a pencil, and scribbled on just about any piece of paper that I could find. My first introduction to acrylic paints was by my late step-grandmother in my early teens, and I’ve painted on and off – mostly off – ever since. About five years ago I decided to try my hand at oils, and am enjoying their versatility. Completely self-taught, I’m now looking to improve my technique by all the time-honoured methods…
So, what does that mean? Basically that I need to paint more pictures, more often. Look at other people’s work, pick apart how they have produced their paintings. Read books, study the theory and techniques. I need to be drawing whenever I can, and thinking about pictures, and how to create them, as often as possible (I am managing the last one, at least). I need to take some classes. And paint more and more. Stop making excuses not to (although I still think this is a pretty fine excuse to be honest, not to mention this).
Feel free to contact me if you are interested in any of the paintings you see on the site, or if you’d like to commission a picture.
