After winning the school art prize David enlisted in the Royal Marines at the age of 16,where he served for over 10 years. He continued to draw and paint during this time before returning to civilian life to pursue a career as a technical illustrator and graphic designer. He works in both pencil and oils and his work frequently features in international art publications. He remains fascinated by the human face as a representation of self with its ability to send subtle silent messages.
Although he doesn't consider his work mainstream, working primarily on commission, he has been recognised with awards in recent years, being shortlisted for 'Artist of the Year 2014' by Artist & Illustrator magazine and Voted Top 100 Artists/Illustrators 2014 by 'Creative Quarterly’ USA. He has frequently featured in 'International Artist’ magazine and in the 'Strokes of Genius’ hardback on two occasions His working life is split evenly between managing a design practice and art studio.
