Liz Balkwill graduated from Norwich School of Art in 1980. She has been working as a professional portrait painter for the past 15 years and is well known in Norfolk as a tutor and
Liz enjoys painting the figure: capturing gesture and using colour to evoke mood. She has also been gaining a steady reputation as a painter of still-life, receiving recognition particularly for her pastel work. Like many artists, she is interested in capturing the way that light and shadow transforms everyday objects from the mundane to the beautiful.
Liz has painted a number of notable portrait commissions and has exhibited at the Mall Galleries with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, ROI, SWA and the Pastel Society. In 2017 Liz was elected a member of the Pastel Society.
