Richard Sanders was born in Brighton, Sussex in 1945. He is a self-taught artist and specialises in painting "impressionistic" landscapes and seascapes in, principally, either watercolour or acrylic. He particularly likes to present the subject in unusual light and uses bold and sometimes extravagant colours to attain his effect.
Richard's choice of subjects range widely, but are chiefly from around his second home in the Highlands of Scotland, depicting the wild shorelines, moody skies and deserted crofts of the area. Richard is an Associate Member of the Armed Forces Art Society, exhibiting annually at the Mall Galleries in London. Richard is also an active member of his local Art Club at home in the Cotswolds where he occasionally gives demonstration classes of his acrylic techniques.
