Martin Balshaw

Martin Balshaw is a serving officer in the RAF who has had a passion for painting and drawing ever since school. With very little formal artistic training, he has gained valuable experience over the past few years through exhibiting nationally and accepting commissions and is largely self taught.

His main interest lies in creating winter landscapes in watercolour of the dramatic Scottish Highlands and other mountainous regions. He can often be found in the middle of nowhere, rucksack on his back, sketchbook in hand and paintbrush betwen his teeth. His other interest lies in the field of military subjects, aircraft in particular. Examples of his work can be found in private collections, with various organisations and at the Army Museum in Chelsea.
