David Seekings AFAS

Born 1937
Army 1955 - 1976 (Royal Engineers)
Marketing Consultant 1976 - 2001

David, like many of his contemporaries, did not leave school and go to art college 'because it wasn't done' in those days. However, when he could during his career he developed his principal passion, painting in watercolours. Largely self-taught, he has spent more time painting in recent years, and now paints in watercolours, oils and pastel. He has also recently started printing and sculpting. His work is representational, and he paints landscapes, marine subjects and also practises life drawing. His work can be found in private collections in the UK and overseas.

David who lives in Yoxford in Suffolk undertakes commissions, especially for house portraits, and various commercial organisations have used his paintings for Christmas cards and CD box covers. The painting, 'Setting Sail' (above), was commissioned for the yacht owner. Correct geographical and nautical detail was of considerable importance in this picture.
