CHRISTOPHER MIERS RBA

Christopher Miers RBA: Born 1941. Regular soldier 1960-85 (Lt. Col. The Royal Green Jackets). Twenty one-man exhibitions from 1964. Exhibited RA Summer Exhibition from 1985. Secretary, The Arts Club 1985-90. Elected Royal Society of British Artists 1986 (Trustee from 1998). Collections: Imperial War Museum, House of Commons, Sultanate of Oman.
Christopher Miers is primarily a landscape painter who works direct from the subject, in oils or tempera. He also enjoys interiors and still life. Many of his paintings are the result of travels abroad and are completed on the spot, most recently in India, South Africa and Venice. Now and then, however, he develops these on a larger scale in his studio in Fulham, seen above. In this country he spends many happy hours painting in the local allotments and on the banks of the River Thames nearby; and he keeps a small canal boat, converted as a floating studio, in Wiltshire.
