TEMPLER AWARDS FOR ART
The Trustees of the National Army Museum Development Trust are generously making two awards annually for the next four years through the Armed Forces Art Society (AFAS), to be known as the Templer Awards. One is to be for £500 and the other is to be a travel scholarship for £1000. The intention is that the awards should go either to someone serving - in the regular or reserve forces – or who has left the services in the last five years or so, who is showing promise in art, or perhaps having come to it as a result of rehabilitation after an injury or post traumatic stress.  The hope is that the award will provide the means for the recipient to gain valuable training, experience and encouragement. You do not have to be a member of the Armed Forces Art Society to apply though eligible members are encouraged to do so.
It is hoped that anyone who reads this and feels that they would benefit from such an award will be encouraged to apply. Applicants may be either budding painters or sculptors. The next awards will be made at the opening of the Armed Forces Art Society’s annual exhibition at the prestigious Mall Gallery in London on Tuesday 26th July this year. Applications must be in by 1st of June and adjudication will be during the last week of June in London. The exact details will be sent to you when you submit your application. If you would like to apply but are serving abroad, or unable to get to London don’t be discouraged from applying, you can do so and submit your work electronically.
